I have become a recent fan of yours after watching the Taiwan Super Idols (shown in S'pore only recently). I do not follow chinese pop closely so through the show, I got to know about ya and you just "wow" me with your vocals. Agreed, both are great singers, but I just luuvvv your singing style most ! Since then, I have become obsessed with ya buying all ya CDS and watching all these stuff about you from the youtube (not sure if you are aware, there are thousands of videos under your name man !). You seem a little frustrated in your earlier msg abt being misinterpreted by the press about the other 2 chaps and how hard you have worked to gain your sucess today that others have forgotten. I feel that the show has gotten more people to notice ya and your music and some I am sure have since become a fan of yours like myself : ) ... don't fret gary, good music will prevail !!! You have many more good years in the music industry cos you are definitely not a one hit composer right ! Besides your music, I also luv ya cos you are so unpretentious and open. You are not racist and am liberal about relationships. In one interview, you mentioned that insofar as one party love another, it doesn't matter if both are of the same sex. well, we all have our bad days. hehe as mariah carey says, after every rainstorm, a rainbow appears. u've made our malaysian chinese proud. most people don't even know that we are malaysian chinese, not malays. Hope that u will be able to introduce our culture n country everywhere you go though you were not brought up in malaysia! hehe. and i hope one day when you make it really big out there one day, you could do a part in the 'lg...' society creating awareness. many artises have chosen not to come out.. but We should be more engaged. We owe it to our predecessors who have fought so hard to enjoy what we have now to stay involved and not take all this freedom for granted. hehe..

Hi, This is my first time posting on any artist's blog and I hope you'll be able to read this.. I have seen you thank fans umpteen times and I would like to thank you for your wonderful music! I am glad to discover your music. I gave up on Chinese music a long time ago. I stopped listening to Chinese songs abt 10 years ago for 2 reasons: (1) 90% of chinese pop singers sang without soul or emotions which transcended through their music, hence the term '口水歌'. (2)I have always find myself easily bored with Chinese pop, the music/tune was predictable, 一尘不变 literally and very uninspiring most of the time. Recently, I have ventured back to explore chinese music because of Jay Chou, and coming across your music is another special delight. Listening to you singing live in those taiwanese variety show made me an instant fan, such emotions in your songs! ALso, would like to congratulate you on a wonderful album, though I love your voice, I was more in love with your live performance rather than your first 2 albums initially, can't really point my finger to it, but perhaps it was too mellow or the music became rather saddening for me after a while. However, I love your this album!! I definitely feel that there was a breakthrough and the music was fantastic. ESPECIALLY LOVE the song 爱爱, very creative and cute song.. I'm sure a lot of ppl will be proposing with this song! I am a difficult listener who is hard to pleased, but thanks to you, Jay Chou and recently Joanna Wang, I have started listening more to Chinese songs. Perhaps you and Joanna could collaborate, she's one hell of a soulful singer as well.. especially love her song "As Love Begins to Mend".. I hope you're in a good place right now.. It seems that you are a person who thinks a lot and definitely an artist who is full of emotions... With so many fans and friends behind you and ascertain your music,and a more liberal rein to unleash your creativeness in music, you should have less days of sadness and loneliness... but more days filled with joy.. Once again, thank you for your music and please continue making inspiring music..

i was doing my research on "hakka" people for my presentation and realize you were that you are hakka too from wikipedia's famous hakkas. hehe. from that presentation, i have learnt so much about our heritage and am so proud of being Hakka. Hakkas were marginalized, they were denied their 'han-ness' and were not given lands,etc. the hakkas were discriminated, therefore many of them migrated overseas. is gary cao your real name? because according to hakka tradition we have 3 names. our family name, generation name, then the last our own name! hakka people are very well known for the pride in being hakka, their tradition, culture and language. and known for their abilty to master many languages. hope you can introduce more hakka dialects in your songs to spread hakkalogy arund the world!!
